The guys attending are:
Harold Zimmerman, Terry Lamm, Mike Myers,
Dean Dingman & Larry Puls. Use the pictures that you want. We had a
hot dog roast around 6:00pm. Windy, hot, but we still were able to
fly airplanes.

Rather
windy conditions today limited flying. This is the first time in
a while that wind was much of an issue. We've actually been the
recipients of some fine flying days this summer, and have been
trying to put them to good use, but the Great Plains winds
returned today and made things "interesting" again.
After hours of tinkering with it earlier this week, Terry Lamm
succeeded in his efforts to get the new G-38 on the 1/4-scale
Fokker D VII running well. He attempted a maiden flight today,
but a crosswind gust resulted in an aborted take-off that
resulted in slight damage. Nothing too serious, but the repairs
will probably have to wait until after the Eindecker project is
finished because Terry needs the build space freed up.
The wind kept Larry Puls grounded, which was probably wise due
to the light wing loading of his Dynaflite S.E.5a. It probably
would not have done well with the gusts, especially when trying
to land.

Towards evening the wind let up just a bit, and I chanced a
flight with the H9 Sopwith Camel. It was a bit of a bumpy
flight. At one point I throttled back and pulled the nose up,
and flew backwards. That was fun! *grin* After about 15 minutes
of flight I brought it in for a landing, and had very little
groundspeed when it touched down. Needless to say, it didn't
have very much of a rollout, and remained upright. (That's an
accomplishment with the Camel, if I
say so myself!)
We spent a fair amount of time just enjoying the fine setting of
Cobras Field with a few other pilots. We dined on Oscar Meyer's
finest, Cheese Puffs, Doritos, and Potato Salad. Simple fare,
but it tasted so much better with flying buddies.
Best regards,
Dean Dingman
P.S. And yes, Mike, I'll try to remember next time... anything
besides "Heinz" is not real ketchup! LOL!
